Mommas with young calf elephants in the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

All elephants have tusks, both male and female. They grow up to 6 sets of teeth during their lifetime, but only one set of tusks. The tusks are rootless, just like our milk teeth and continue to grow their entire life. The bigger the tusks the older the elephant. We saw so many of all ages on our Safari with Gosheni inside the Serengeti National Park UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019/12 in Tanzania.
